Middleton: Enabling works

  • Duration 30 Weeks

Introduction

In March 2022, CORE began work on another contract for Marshall CDP, having been awarded a contract for enabling works at the former Benyon House site in Middleton, Leeds.

Benyon House was originally built as a bus garage and was used for a number of years as the Leeds Industrial Cooperative Society head office warehouse and distribution centre. The site has been unused since the building was demolished in 2013.

Work on the 20,000 square meter site supports the development of a multimillion-pound retail park which will be anchored by Lidl and B&M Homestore outlets and could support the creation of more than 180 jobs.

Work briefly comprises:

  • Re engineering of existing made ground
  • Removal/crushing existing relic foundations
  • Retaining walls (circa 100m)
  • New site entrance/Section 278 work
  • Carpark
  • Fencing

The development is sustainable and will improve employment opportunities and retail premises in this area of Leeds.
